No Man’s Sky Multiplayer Missing from GOG Versions | Gaming

Thanks to the NEXT patch, the space exploration and survival title No Man's Sky is experiencing a post-launch resurgence of sorts, with the update giving the game a ton of new features and changes that brings it a lot closer to what fans want the total experience to include. However, some players aren't getting all of the update's content, as the multiplayer elements from the patch are from the GOG of the game.

According to GOG, the digital distribution platform's version of No Man's Sky won't be getting the NEXT update's fresh multiplayer features until “later in the year”, which will understandably be disappointing for many players to say the least. That said, though, GOG is looking to rectify the situation, as the retailer has announced that it's now prepared to offer refunds to anyone who happens to be affected by this oversight.

As detailed in the Money Back Guarantee Policy page on GOG's site, the company itself typically will not offer players a refund on a game – that is, unless the product “doesn't work and [GOG's] team of expert Support staff can't solve the problem”. Usually, refunds are also only permitted within 30 days of purchase, but GOG has decided to provide an “extended refund policy for all owners of No Man's Sky“. This offer even applies to those who purchased the game outside of the normal 30-day window – but in this case, refunds will be issued in the form of GOG wallet funds.

Bearing all of this in mind, while some folks who bought No Man's Sky through GOG might be keen to wait until the multiplayer aspects of NEXT drop later this year, it's good to see the digital distribution service stepping up to fill the role left by the developer Hello Games, as the studio “chose not to offer refunds over missing game content to [GOG's] users”.  It's incredibly important to note, though, that in order to take advantage of the offer, No Man's Sky owners must request the refund through GOG's customer service team by Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 10:00 PM UTC.

No Man's Sky is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
