Pokemon GO: How to Counter Alolan Marowak | Gaming News

With the addition of Registeel to raids, Pokemon GO also changed up the raid boss list in general, in some cases giving players their first opportunity to catch certain Pokemon. One such Pokemon is Alolan Marowak, which is making its debut in the game as a rather challenging Tier 4 raid boss that players will need to prepare properly for if they hope to stand a chance against it.

Luckily, there are a number of Pokemon players can add to their team in Pokemon GO that will put up a serious fight against Alolan Marowak and make the elusive creature that much easier to catch. However, even with the most ideal team, Pokemon GO players will want to make sure they have three people in the raid party at the bare minimum – the more trainers participating the better.

With that in mind, here are the Pokemon that can counter and potentially defeat Alolan Marowak in Pokemon GO:

  • Kyogre – Waterfall/Hydro Pump
  • Gyarados – Waterfall/Hydro Pump
  • Vaporeon – Water Gun/Hydro Pump
  • Tyranitar – Bite or Smack Down/Crunch or Stone Edge
  • Houndoom – Snarl/Foul Play
  • Groudon – Mud Shot/Earthquake
  • Rhydon – Mud Slap/Earthquake or Stone Edge
  • Golem – Mud Slap or Rock Throw/Earthquake or Stone Edge
  • Gengar – Hex or Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball
  • Mewtwo – Confusion or Psycho Cut/Shadow Ball

Many of the usual suspects can be seen in the list above, with the best bets being heavy hitting water-type Pokemon like Kyogre and Gyarados. Tyranitar and Golem, who are honestly useful in the vast majority of Pokemon GO raids, can also be an asset in Alolan Marowak raids. Potentially, if players stocked up on Tyranitars during the Larvitar Community Day event, players could go in to the fight with a stacked team consisting of nothing but Tyranitars.

Of course, legendary Pokemon also play a big role in any trainer’s Alolan Marowak strategy. As can be seen in the list above, Kyogre and Groudon are solid choices, but so is Mewtwo. Of course, getting one’s hands on a legendary Pokemon is easier said than done, so those who haven’t collected many legendaries will have to stick to the other Pokemon on the list if they hope to defeat Alolan Marowak.
