Destiny 2: Forsaken Details New Scorn Enemy Type | Gaming
In just under two months, Destiny 2 players will finally be able to go hands-on with the game’s new Forsaken expansion, which promises tons of new content for them to experience. Among that new content is a new race for Destiny 2, The Scorn, which was detailed this week.
The Scorn is the new enemy type in Destiny 2: Forsaken and are best described as mutated versions of Fallen. However, unlike Siva Fallen, which were more or less a reskin, The Scorn will force players to rethink their tactics and they have a completely different approach.
There are a handful of different enemy types within the overarching Scorn category, and each will challenge players in different ways. For example, there is a subset of Scorn that is charged with dark ether and will rush the player and try to explode right on them, not unlike the Hive’s Cursed Thrall. There is also a group that carries small shields, forcing the player to either be more accurate with their shot or flank around.
In addition to their base abilities, The Scorn also has some new gadgets to use against the player, namely a set of Totems. These Totems can do everything from emit flames that damage the player to helping heal the nearby Scorn.
Of course, the real Scorn threats are the Barons, Destiny 2: Forsaken’s major boss characters. With eight in total, the Barons will serve as the primary antagonists that the player will hunt throughout the Forsaken campaign. Each Baron, like the different types of Scorn, offers a different gameplay approach and features a unique design.
Overall, The Scorn seem like the first “new” race for Destiny since the Taken hit with The Taken King. Yes, like The Taken, the Scorn are technically modified versions of an existing race, but their attacks and design are different enough to make them feel unique. Bungie seems to like its central enemy races but variety can help break up the monotony, and if there is one thing that Destiny 2: Forsaken is hoping to do it’s give players more things to do more often.
Destiny 2: Forsaken releases September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
