Peter Diamandis runs the X Prize Foundation, which offers large cash incentive prizes to inventors who can solve grand challenges like space flight, low-cost mobile medical diagnostics, and oil spill cleanup. Using remarkable data and insight, Diamandis’s TED Talk proves we have the tools to solve the world’s grand challenges, and then leaves us with a roadmap for the future.

Is our unhappiness a factor of our expectations? As things get better, we so quickly raise the bar that we barely notice the progress. But there is progress!
To be clear, we aren’t saying that what’s being reported on the evening news isn’t important. We need to be clued into the problems, they deserve our attention, but we’re wondering, how did us knowing about and reacting to these situations become more important than discovering what’s being developed to help ease them? Why is the focus put on doom instead of all of the possibility that’s around us?
