Paramedics finish Florida man’s lawn after treating him for a heart attack | Tech Social

Paramedics in Florida went beyond the call of duty when they returned to a patient’s house to finish his lawn work.

Melissa Ann Work praised the first responders in a Facebook post on Sunday after her husband Gene suffered a heart attack.

Work said her husband had pleaded with her as he “was having his heart attack, literally in and out of consciousness” to lay the fresh sod because he worried it would “go to waste and die.”

She said her brother-in-law stayed behind to babysit his two-year-old niece and lay the fresh sod while she went to the hospital with her husband.

Work said her brother-in-law was surprised to hear a fire truck and ambulance rumbling back down the road, just as he was getting ready to lay the fresh sod.

“Before he knows it (sic), seven firefighters and EMTs jumped out, put on gloves and said they came back because they knew Gene was in serious trouble and they wanted to lay the new sod so it didn’t die,” Work said in her Facebook post.

“They knew he wouldn’t be able to work for weeks, so they came back,” she said.

Work said the family had been facing a “huge” fine from the homeowner’s association because of their lawn, which may have added to her husband’s stress.

She is also set to undergo a bone marrow transplant in August.

“They didn’t know all we have been through as a little family,” she wrote in her post.

“They simply saw someone in need, something in need and did this for us.”
