Alibaba, 3 sign new digital ecosystem partnership in Hong Kong | industry

Chinese ecommerce and technology giant Alibaba has signed a new agreement with telecommunications company 3 in Hong Kong where the two firms will look to develop and deploy a new ecosystem for enterprises.

The agreement will cover , big data and IoT, with the partnership looking to underpin Hong Kong’s growing digital internet economy.

Using 3 Hong Kong’s extensive telecommunications coverage, coupled with Alibaba’s leading technology expertise, the two will hope to develop a new ecosystem that will readily cater to a range of industries, aiding Hong Kong’s journey of becoming a smart city.

“We believe collaboration with 3 Hong Kong will combine technologies and resources as we both explore the potential in cooperating in new retail and finance initiatives, along with smart environment protection, general merchandise stores, smart buildings, smart supply chains, smart logistics and blockchain,” said Alibaba Group Vice President Tianhua Zhong.

“We aim to use inclusive technology to assist development of Hong Kong’s enterprise community and society in general.”

Further, the agreement will see the two companies exploring opportunities in information security such as developing cybersecurity and network protection solutions.
