WhatsApp New Video Quality Selection Feature
WhatsApp is making moves in the feature game once more by adding a much-needed video-sharing feature to its mainframe.
Since joining the Facebook ecosystem a few years back, WhatsApp has so far lacked in terms of expanding its features for statifying its user-base. Telegram, a post-WhatsApp offering, boasts much more features in terms of accessibility and media sharing, garnering millions of downloads and shaking off almost a dozen million more from the WhatsApp user-base.
WhatsApp wants to avoid further slippage in the near-term, and its latest “Video upload quality” feature is the first of many updates to assure user retention.
Currently, WhatsApp automatically compresses video quality for optimization. With the new update, users will be allowed to choose from three options, namely Auto (recommended), Best quality and Data saver, as shown below:
The feature is available in WhatsApp Beta for Android. A global rollout for Android and iOS devices may commence in the next few weeks.
