3 Cool New Features of WhatsApp Released in 2017 | Tech Blog

World’s most popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has already done so many things to keep us connected. The user-friendly interface and easy to use features have made this app so easy that anyone can use this app without anyone’s help. In this year, WhatsApp has added a lot of features in its app and some of them are quite useful. Now, you can delete sent messages on WhatsApp, share your live location and also update status in a very cool way. So let’s talk these features in detail and see how it works?

1. Delete Sent Messages:

Finally, WhatsApp has launched the most requested and awaited feature. WhatsApp has named this feature – Delete for Everyone which allows you to delete sent messages, images, videos or any other file sent on WhatsApp. The only restriction is one can only delete messages or files up to 7 minutes after sending which I think is enough to decide whether you have sent the message by mistake or you really wanted to.

To use this feature, you need the latest version of WhatsApp. Then, just tap on any message for a second and tap on delete icon (dustbin icon) and there you’ll see two options – Delete for Me and Delete for Everyone. Just select delete for everyone and the message will be deleted from all the devices.

2. Share Live Location:

Ever wanted to track your loved ones when they are travelling alone? Previously, we can only share our current location on WhatsApp. But now, WhatsApp has added an option to track someone’s location in real time. Like for example, someone is coming to your place but he doesn’t know the address. In this case, Instead of giving directions on phone you can ask him to share his location. Then, you can easily give directions through chat after watching his location in real time.

To use this feature, just choose location from attachment options and tap on share live location. Then select the duration for which you want to share the location  Currently, there are three options available – 15 min, 1 hr and 8 hr.

3. Improved Status:

Earlier, status means the boring one line quote people used to write below their profile picture. Some people were so creative that they only write – Hey there! I am using WhatsApp. Anyway, WhatsApp has revamped this feature a lot in the year 2017. Now, people can set multiple photos or even combination of photos and videos to their WhatsApp status. The most amazing part of this feature is – we can only update status for 24 hours. After that, it will automatically get deleted.

Recently, WhatsApp has also added an option to update text status in different fonts with coloured backgrounds. To update a status, you just need to open WhatsApp, tap on status, choose your photos, videos or both.
