The funding was meant to support efforts by G2Lab in improving the quality of Indonesian tech talents
G2Lab, an Indonesian edutech startup and tech consultant founded by senior tech professional Ferry Sutanto, announced that it has raised an undisclosed funding round from Primedge Investment Holdings.
Primedge is a subsidiary of Ancora Capital, an investment management firm led by former Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan.
The funding was meant to support G2Lab’s plan in improving the quality of Indonesian tech talents.
Prior to founding G2Lab, Sutanto has long been working in the tech industry, both in Indonesia and the US.
After spending 21 years in the US, he returned to Indonesia to join GDP Venture and BliBli, with his last designation being the Head of Technology at the company.
“With this funding, G2Lab aims to accommodate more participants by investing in building a head office for our students and alumni, as well as recruiting more expert instructors. The planning will be focussed on perfecting programmes that have been specially formulated to produce quality human resources for Indonesia, that is capable of competing in the international market,” Sutanto said.
His ambition to improve the quality of Indonesian tech talents has led Sutanto to start G2Lab, which has two business segments.

The first segment runs intensive classes to help students acquire tech skills that would be beneficial in the job market. The classes include topics such as web development, iOS and Android app building, cybersecurity, UI/UX, and digital marketing.
The second segment of the business offers tech consultation service in the form of CTO-as-a-Service (CTOaaS). The scheme helps clients to fulfill their technological needs, particularly for corporations with limited number of tech talents.
In the education segment, G2Lab offers a similar service with other educational institution such as Hacktiv8 and Dicoding.
G2Lab was also backed by Kejora Ventures, with Managing Partners Andy Zain and Sebastian Togelang acting as advisors for the company.
“We share a similar vision to improve the quality of Indonesian workforce by increasing the capacity of educational [programmes] and building a productive network of human capital in Indonesia,” Ancora Capital founder Gita Wirjawab commented on the funding round.
