Grab’s regional head of digital Alex Wong joins LOKi

Grab’s head of Alex Wong (pictured) has joined digital agency as creative director. His appointment comes as LOKi, which is based in Malaysia and Singapore, aims to strengthen the creative and content team to further provide clients with strategic brand consultancy services.

Wong has over 20 years of experience in the advertising industry and during his time at Grab, he was involved in regional work for GrabFood, GrabPay, GrabRewards as well as digital CRM for the eight countries that Grab is in. He also led the local creatives in the Philippines and Cambodia. He is certainly no stranger to the Malaysian advertising scene, having worked in Naga DDB, Grey, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO, McCann Worldgroup, and Ogilvy.

Throughout his career, Wong has worked on key accounts such as Prudential, Astro (Malay segment), Hotlink, Tourism Malaysia, Tiger Beer (local and regional) Kraft, Coca Cola, Unilever, Peter Stuyvesant, and KFC, among others. A+M has reached out to Grab for comment.

According to Wong, joining an independent set up such as LOKi is a new challenge that he has always wanted to try. “LOKi is constantly looking for ways to evolve and differentiate their offerings. At the same time, there are a lot of creative potential and opportunities for great work at LOKi. I’m also looking forward to nurture and grow the young talents here,” Wong added.

Founder and director of LOKi, Loke Weng Leong said Wong’s regional experience on the client side in Grab will bring a different perspective to the agency and its work.

“We are delighted to have Wong on board as our new creative director and we look forward to raise the creative bar at LOKi and evolve our proposition and agency model,” Loke added.
