Language e-learning platform Squline rebrands into Cakap

Squline, the e-learning solution for language courses, just announced its new moniker Cakap. Cakap is “competent” in English, which further highlights the two-way interaction e-learning approach the startup was recently broken record for.
Established since 2014, Cakap provides language courses for Japanese, Mandarin, English, and Indonesian, allowing users to access courses with professional teachers and on-demand time schedule.
Cakap shared that for the last five years, the company has enjoyed growth facilitating over 100.000 users. Cakap said the rebranding also reflects its commitment to grow and focus on creating social impact for the society.
“Cakap means competent or crafty in Indonesian, just as our vision has been, which is to increase the competing ability of the human resources through giving access to acceptable and affordable education,” said Tomy Yunus, founder and CEO of Cakap during its grand launching, yesterday at Summarecon Mall Serpong.
Cakap is also supported by the country’s Minister of Communication and Information or KOMINFO. “We ought to facilitate Cakap to give them access to mentors, program, as well as funding. The government should be able to synergise innovations with digital economy stakeholders,” said Sonny Hendrawan as the Head of Creativity Planning TIK of KOMINFO.
The launch was also an awarding ceremony of the record that Cakap broke as the first online language learning application with two-way interaction given by Indonesian Record Museum or Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI).
