Launchgarage Innovation Hub, in partnership with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) successfully held its first ever Demo Day for EXPAND Philippines, a structured program tailored for tech startups, providing them with opportunities to connect with decision makers, influencers, investors and potential collaborators. Through this program, Malaysian companies are eased into the Philippine Market with various lectures, mentors, and an on-site immersion in the Philippines during the final stretch.

The event was a culmination of the said month-long accelerator conducted by the Launchgarage team, highlighting the journey of the five Malaysian startups participating in the first cohort comprised of a diverse set of companies — SalesCandy, SushiVid,  CEMPIA, My Robot Time, and Avavaz.

The first cohort was carefully curated via a month-long assessment, with the Launchgarage and MDEC team receiving 60+ applicants and ultimately ending up with 5 startups. A total of 38 online sessions were conducted and 40 on-site meetings were facilitated within 20 working days.

We do not aim to compete with anyone as we are all trying to reach the same ideal — a prominent presence in tech and innovation in the world. We are happy to announce that most of the startups have deals lined up with regards to investment opportunities, operational partnerships, as well as clients. Jay Fajardo, CEO of Launchgarage explained the new trends in future technologies, their points of inflection and how they will shape the world we live in today. A serial entrepreneur, Fajardo’s most notable startup was Airborne Access, a local wireless fidelity firm acquired by PLDT in 2008. He is also the CEO of ProudCloud, a software development firm for Blockchain, IoT and Web Design . The EXPAND Philippines Demo Day was attended by over 40 VIP’s, 7 media partners and over 20 collaborators from different industries.
