Malaysia should create wealth through Waste Management

Malaysia should have a new invention in waste management which could create wealth, said Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said there were a lot of inventions in which were very powerful and brought many benefits to people around the world yesterday.

The Prime Minister said, for instance, every year people bought new hand phones and threw away the old ones, which eventually could have harmful effects on the environment.

“Management of waste is something that should look into, so that we can separate the waste effectively and reuse the waste. So, how to deal with waste is something worth looking into,” he said at the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) consultation 2018, chaired by MIGHT Chairman Tan Sri Dr Ir Ahmad Tajuddin Ali yesterday.

The dialogue was attended by 50 players in the high-tech industry.

During the session, Dr Mahathir answered several questions from the participants including one on ensuring research results be converted into wealth-generating businesses.

Dr Mahathir said microchip technology was also something that Malaysia should focus on since most of new high-technology products were embedded with microchips.

“These are the directions that the nation must take,” he said.
