Malaysia’s first digital showroom for vehicle purchase in Penampang
KOTA KINABALU: The first ever Digital Showroom for vehicle purchase and various other services in Malaysia will be opened in Penampang.
The development of the Smart Sales and Service Digital Showroom is a strategic collaboration between the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), Arus Jaya Automotive Sdn Bhd and Perodua.
Witnessing the collaboration, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Datuk Darell Leiking said Perodua took a risk to start such platform in Sabah and this has extended opportunity for Sabahans to enjoy and experience the Digital Showroom.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Kota Kinabalu Marriott Hotel here yesterday.
“The Digital Showroom is a game changer for the sales, service and aftermarket sector, as the digital dimension at the point in which the consumer is most involved is altered.
“This initiative will transform the sales scene of the industry, allowing business owners to reduce operational costs by eliminating the need of investing in a high number of showroom display models while at the same time, maximising the choices offered to the customer during the purchasing decision phase,” said MARii CEO Dato’ Madani Sahari.
The Digital Showroom will be the first of its kind to be realised, in order to transition towards enhancing digitalisation of the aftermarket sector and served as a platform to enhance business operations and customer purchasing experience through the adoption of digital technologies and services in Sabah region.
The showroom, moreover, will utilise elements of Industry 4.0 such as Big Data Analytics (BDA), Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud-based services to transform the way aftermarket services are conducted, allowing for a seamless, interactive and immersive experience for customers while reducing operational costs for business owners.
During the retail process, consumers can personalise their vehicles in real-time, at the same time the same technology can be utilised to expedite the sales and service transaction process through cloud based knowledge repositories and recognition systems that can identify and track vehicle records, financial information and service database to provide better insights for the service provider and enhance the consumer experience.
“This collaboration will improve the performance of the aftermarket sector of the Sabah region, especially in terms of technological development.
“The Digital Showroom concept can be utilised as a medium to market products in a new, innovative way while at the same time, enhance customers’ buying experience by providing them with new tools to customize and purchase desired vehicles,” said Chief Executive Officer of Arus Jaya Automotive Sdn Bhd, Simon Chee.
Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “While we are unable to share anything specific about the collaboration due to strategic reasons, what I can say is that Perodua wishes to ensure that our digital experience is one to remember.”
