MDEC to implement nationwide tour to popularise e-commerce
KOTA BHARU (Oct 31): The #SayaDigitalKeluargaMalaysia nationwide tour will go down to the grassroots to ensure the aspiration to popularise e-commerce among entrepreneurs is achieved, says Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) would implement special programmes to ensure there was no digital divide among small, medium and even micro-entrepreneurs.
“More than 200,000 entrepreneurs nationwide have been involved in the programme organised by MDEC last year, so we are targeting a bigger number (participation) because we want to make all traders, even those who trade on the roadside, participate in this e-commerce concept,” he said.
He was speaking reporters after officiating the tour for the Ketereh Parliamentary constituency at the Kelantan Poverty Foundation Complex here on Sunday (Oct 31).
Commenting further, Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP, said he was confident that MDEC, which was entrusted to implement the programme, would be able to produce more entrepreneurs active in e-commerce.
“I see the method used by MDEC is very systematic and professional. And it is important, as well to share success stories in order to motivate more people to be involved and participate in e-commerce,” he said.
