Revenue Group to include ShopeePay in its merchant payment touch-points
KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 18): Cashless payment solutions provider Revenue Group Bhd has inked a partnership agreement with Shopee Malaysia to enable the latter’s mobile wallet acceptance at all of its merchants across its network of payment touch-points in Malaysia.
In a joint statement, Revenue Group said it signed a partnership agreement with Shopee Malaysia to enable its in-app ShopeePay’s mobile QR payment to be made available at Revenue Group’s 35,000 merchant payment touch-points throughout the country.
Revenue Group managing director and group chief executive Eddie Ng Chee Siong said this was part of the firm’s strategy to enable its merchant base with a wide range of payment solutions, and stands at more than three types of payment schemes.
“The tie-up with Shopee Malaysia will further strengthen our position as the e-payment solutions provider in Malaysia and preferred partner by merchants.
“We look forward to adding more touch-points in Malaysia soon,” he said.
He said the partnership comes on the back of the increasing number of digital payments in recent years, with the pandemic intensifying the need for this mode of payment for safety reasons.
“This includes older users over the age of 50, who have also started to adopt digital payments,” he said.
Meanwhile, ShopeePay head Alain Yee said with the social distancing efforts in place, consumers were embracing digital payments for greater convenience and security.
“Through the implementation of contactless transactions via ShopeePay for a safer interaction between customers and sellers, as well as the benefits and rewards that ShopeePay offers upon usage, more Malaysians are encouraged to shop.
“Eventually, we want to be able to drive local consumption and help generate income for the nation as it enters the recovery phase.
“We are committed to working closely with our partners like Revenue Group and its merchants, providing support through our technology to help grow their business effectively,” he said.
He said until Dec 31, ShopeePay users can enjoy RM3 daily cashback with a minimum spend of RM15 in a single transaction at all ShopeePay enabled touch-points.
At the midday break, Revenue Group was unchanged at RM1.23 for a market capitalisation of RM485.62 million.
