The Latest Technology That Will Improve Asia | Digital Asia
Digital Asia News Update
Technology has changed life as we know it, be it at work or at home. In the workplace alone, technology has increased overall productivity and job satisfaction.
Recently, a new wave of technology has hit the workforce and is being adopted quickly; and that technology is Robotic Process Automation (RPA), also known as software bots or just bots. RPAs have the power to process and extract data, as well as integrate with other technologies seamlessly and efficiently.
RPAs are slowly starting to take over most rule-based and repetitive tasks done in business. They are a solution to streamlining many back-end processes that tend to overwhelm employees.
As an industry, RPAs have grown immensely in the past few years. In the Asia Pacific region, 46 percent of businesses are adapting their strategies to integrate RPA and similar automation into their business model.
Let’s take a look at how bots are improving Asia and helping it grow.
Better Customer Service
RPAs are becoming especially popular with firms looking to provide better and more speedy customer service.
By taking away the load from repetitive backend tasks, RPA lets employees focus instead on serving their customers better and improve the relationship between the customer and the business.
Reducing Costs
The need for organisations to optimise operating costs and improving quality is crucial. RPAs are key to saving costs. Not only do RPAs make fewer mistakes than their human counterparts do, they can work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. RPAs are able to produce more at a fraction of the cost.
They Create Jobs
Because RPAs or “bots” have the ability to do a job more efficiently than their human counterparts, there is of course the fear that they can take away jobs. However, this is not the case; in fact, more jobs are being created because of RPAs.
By freeing us from repetitive tasks, we are able to do think more laterally. As tasks become automated, the number of people working in higher value jobs which are more personalised and need creativity, empathy and reasoning will increase. In other words, the job quality and thus job satisfaction will go up.
Helping Industries In Asia
RPA has already contributed immensely to a variety of services in Asia, including banking, financial services, insurance, automotive, and health services.
The common denominator for all these businesses is the large volume of data entry and compilation. RPA is able to manage structured and unstructured data and is applicable for any rule based and repetitive task. This frees up time and resources towards other ventures such as growth and development.
With RPA providing so many benefits, it’s no wonder businesses across Asia are adopting them so avidly. Those businesses that are slow in utilising this technology leave themselves at a disadvantage and risk losing out to their competitors. The time act is now. We need to adapt in order to not just survive, but also thrive.
