Yasmin Mahmood to step down as CEO of MDEC

Datuk will be stepping down as the Chief Executive Officer () of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation ().

The Board of Directors of MDEC has received notification from Yasmin, who will relinquish her position as CEO and all other positions within MDEC effective 15, 2019.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am tendering my resignation as CEO of MDEC to pursue a role with a tech venture in Jakarta,” said Yasmin in a statement posted on the MDEC website on Thursday (Dec 6).

“It has been an absolute honour to have served in this position for the last four years and three months.

“I have put my heart and soul into the role to bring MDEC to a higher level of effectiveness and relevance, not only with the initiatives and strategies we’ve implemented but also with the cultural transformation of the people in MDEC,” added Yasmin who joined MDEC as CEO in Sept 2014.

She also expressed her appreciation to the Board for their guidance and support throughout her tenure and wished MDEC the best.

Minister of Communications and Multimedia Gobind Singh Deo thanked Yasmin for her stewardship in leading MDEC and all her contributions to the digital economy ecosystem.

“Her passion, commitment and energy in seeing things through to the very end has benefited Malaysia throughout the years,” he said in the same statement.

In June, Yasmin had gone on voluntary six-weeks leave pending an investigation into MDEC’s Asean Data Analytics Exchange (ADAX) project.
