7 Exciting Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games | Gaming News
The Nintendo Switch’s games catalogue just keeps getting more impressive, and it’s due to get even better with several exciting new releases in the coming weeks.
Such as? Take a look below …
Banner Saga 3
The Banner Saga 3 is set for release on the Nintendo Switch on July 24th.
This is the final instalment in Stoic’s trilogy, which started with The Banner Saga in 2014 and continued in its sequel two years later. The games have won more than 20 awards and gained a cult following.
The Banner Saga 3 will feature the same tactical RPG gameplay and turn-based combat. The hand-painted visuals are stunning and its Viking-centric narrative promises to be an epic end to the series.
New playable characters will be available to add to your group and the combat will have more strategic depth. If you’ve played the first two games, Banner Saga 3 will be a must.
Wario’s back in WarioWare Gold. This will be released for PAL systems at the end of July, while fans in Japan and North America will get it at the start of August.
As usual, WarioWare Gold tasks players with completing a variety of ‘microgames’. 300 different ones will be included in the game, consisting of those from past WarioWare titles as well as new ones.
You’ll have to interact with the Switch in different ways to play games, such as tilting it or blowing into its microphone. Full voice acting will debut in WarioWare Gold too!
Mega Man X Legacy Collection
The Mega Man X series will be released in two collected editions for the Nintendo Switch on July 24th.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 includes Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3 and Mega Man X4.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 continues the series with Mega Man X5, Mega Man X 6, Mega Man X 7 and Mega Man X 8.
Both collections feature extra content, such as the X Challenge mode and massive museums filled with production art, commercials and more.
Dead Cells is an old-school Metroidvania-roguelike adventure starring a swarm of cells able to take control of a corpse.
Developer Motion Twin has a history of free-to-play and mobile games, but have made Dead Cells their passion project. The fast-paced action involves navigating levels and fighting a wide range of enemies, including bosses.
It features procedurally-generated environments that shift items and enemies to new locations whenever you die.
Dead Cells has been on Early Access for a while now but will finally get its full release on August 7th.
Okami is one of the most beloved games of its era. It first arrived on the PS2 in 2006 (in Japan, before securing wider release the following year) and attracted remarkable praise for its beautiful visuals, compelling storytelling and original gameplay.
Okami sees you playing as Amaterasu, the Shinto sun goddess in the guise of a gorgeous white wolf. The cel-shaded graphics look fantastic in their HD form and the Celestial Brush system is as awesome as ever.
The Okami HD edition on Nintendo Switch can be played in both its original 4:3 aspect ratio and widescreen. The Joy-Con and touch screen controls allow for more direct handling of the Celestial Brush too.
Definitely one to try if you haven’t played it before. It’ll be available from August 9th.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will be released for Nintendo Switch on August 28th. This is an expanded version of Monster Hunter Generations, which debuted on the 3DS a few years ago, and is the first Monster Hunter title to land on the Switch in the West.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is an action RPG with a huge cast of monsters and co-op for as many as four players. Multiplayer is available in local wireless or online modes, letting you take part in your quest with friends wherever you go.
If you have save data from the original Monster Hunter Generations, you can actually transfer it over to the Switch version too.
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition
Victor Vran debuted to decent reviews in 2015, and this Overkill Edition is an expanded version. Switch owners will be able to enjoy two extras — ‘Fractured Worlds’ and ‘Motorhead: Through the Ages’.
As you might imagine from its title, the latter incorporates the classic rock band.
The gameplay is an action RPG in the mould of Diablo, revolving around the titular demon hunter. You can customise your character pretty extensively, with numerous weapon classes, powers and outfits to try.
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition will be available on August 28th.
Several exciting new games will hit the Nintendo Switch in the coming weeks, including classic Mega Man X collections, a new WarioWare and more! Which are you most excited to play?
