Black Ops 4: Blackout Mode Details Leak Online? | Gaming

Although it is known that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be the popular franchise’s entry into the Battle Royale genre, there isn’t much known about what that exactly entails. We do know the mode will feature other maps, and here are the 5 maps we want to see featured in Blackout mode. Beyond that, however, it is slim pickings, unless this apparent leak proves to be accurate.

Using a burner account under the name Omnipotentem, an insider has seemingly leaked some serious details concerning the Black Ops 4‘s Blackout mode on Reddit, although neither Treyarch nor Activision have commented on this leak. Check out the new Blackout mode details below:

  • Largest map in Call of Duty history, but lots of focus on verticality. As seen in the teaser, the map features pieces of iconic maps from previous games. Nuketown is located in the middle of the map as an island, surrounded by water, set after the nuke is dropped. The layout and theme of Nuketown in Blackout is similar to that of Nuketown Zombies from Black Ops 2.

  • Aiming for at very least 50 players, currently testing 64 players right now with plans to increase if possible.

  • Health is 150HP, replenished via scavengable Medical Kits. Equipping scavenged Armor allows the player to take 1 extra shot, Armor Piercing Rounds will counter the effect of Armor.

  • Limited Inventory slots, increased space via scavenged Backpacks.

  • Weapon loot has rarity, depending on the rarity your weapon will have different attachments (Higher Rarity = Better/More Attachments). *Subject to change, there are currently talks about attachments being scavenged rather than rarity-dependent.

  • Consumable abilities such as the Multiplayer Specialist Abilities. For example, Torque’s Portable Barricade with 1x use, Ruin’s Grapple Hook with limited uses, and Nomad’s Dog which can be commanded to follow the player or guard an area.

  • Equipment such as the Recon RC, an RC-XD without explosives, can be scavenged and give the player an advantage. Currently, a Monkey Bomb equipment which doesn’t explode can be found, likely a placeholder for a Decoy Grenade.

  • Land, air, and sea vehicles as seen in the teaser. The ATV is the only fully-functioning vehicle in the current build.

  • The Storm/Gas mechanic is currently a simple visible wall that closes in on the map.

  • While players simply parachute into the map. *Subject to change, talks of moving to a spawn-in system similar to Call of Duty: Online are happening.

Although leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, some users have expressed the belief that this is the same insider who predicted several details concerning the Zombies mode. Taken into account with the fact that we know the previous Call of Duty maps will be featured in the battle royale mode, it seems that this leaker could be somewhat trusted, but that might actually be a cause for concern. For example, many may be confused by the Storm/Gas mechanic simply being a visible wall so close to the launch of the Beta.

Despite land, sea, and air vehicles being shown in the teaser, it’s worth reiterating that the ATV is the only fully-functioning vehicle in the current build (again, according to this leak.) If true, many Black Ops fans may be worried about the state of the game at launch and its length of development, as a lot will be riding on whether Blackout mode can compete with the likes of Fortnite and PUBG. Moreover, while parachuting in seems like the easiest answer, it is also becoming quite derivative, with the development team seemingly undecided on the matter.

Nevertheless, the game is scheduled to release in a few months, so players will be able to get their hands on it then and see how much of this proves to be true. Before the actual release, though, the game will be hosting a private Beta for the Blackout and Multiplayer modes, which means more information may be coming sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch on October 12, 2018, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
