Well, that’s not complicated at all…

Activision has announced two separate betas for Black Ops 4’s standard multiplayer and the new Battle Royale Blackout mode.

Unusually, Activision didn’t show that much of this year’s Call Of Duty at E3 but they are gearing up for not one but two betas for Black Ops 4.

Thanks to a timed exclusivity deal with Sony it’s all horribly complicated, but here are the dates for the normal competitive multiplayer:

What will COD Battle Royale be like?

The multiplayer beta will have six maps, and include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and the new objective-based Control mode.

The other beta is for the new Battle Royale mode, called Blackout. That doesn’t have a specific date yet but it’s due to start in September – again, initially only on PlayStation 4.

To get access to the console betas you’ll need to have pre-ordered the game. You’ll be registered automatically if you buy it digitally but with physical copies the beta key is only available through certain retailers.

To play on PC all you need is a Battle.net account, but if you pre-order on PC you do get an extra day.
