Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for July 6 – 9 | Gaming

It’s once again Friday which means the exotic merchant Xur has arrived with a new set of gear for Destiny 2 players to purchase. Xur remains the best way to not only complete exotic collections with the weekly Fated Engram but also to get easy access to new Warmind gear in exchange for Legendary Shards. Here’s a rundown on where to find Xur as well as what he’s offering from July 6 until he heads back home on July 9.

Where is Xur?

As hinted at by the weekly reset Flashpoint location, players can find Xur on Nessus within Watcher’s Grave in his usual spot on the large tree. Fast travel to this zone and then follow the path north towards the next zone called The Tangle. Before reaching the end of the zone, players will find a massive tree to the right side of the path. Xur can be found standing on one of the massive tree branches. As always, consult the minimap for Xur’s exact location.

Class Armor

For the second week in a row, Xur hasn’t brought an exotic item with him from the Warmind expansion, which means players could very well already own each item on sale. This weekend in Destiny 2, Xur’s stock is focused on gauntlets for the three classes. Titan players can pick up the Synthoceps, Warlock’s can purchase the Karnstein Armlets, and Hunters get the Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves.

Titan players have another strong exotic armor piece for PvP this week with the Synthoceps gauntlets. Through the Biotic Enhancements perk, Titan players gain increased melee lunge range and improved melee and Super damage when surrounded. For players who enjoy PvP and don’t yet have these, they’re absolutely worth the shards.

The Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves are a tough recommend for Hunters this week as the gauntlets cater specifically to sidearms and offer no real benefit to those who don’t use them. This situational exotic features the Spring-Loaded Mounting perk, which increases sidearm ready and reload speed. When critically injured, the gauntlets also raise sidearm damage. For those who use Rat King or other powerful sidearms like Last Hope, it may be worth picking up, but there are certainly better exotic choices.

Last up are the Karnstein Armlets, Warlock gauntlets that cater well to both PvP and PvE players. Its exotic perk is called Vampire’s Caress, which enhances melee attacks to add resilience and mobility on successful hits. Not only that, melee hits highlight injured enemies while melee kills restore a portion of health. It may not be the best Warlock exotic available at the moment, but it’s a solid choice and worth it for those who don’t already own it.

Exotic Weapon

One of the more unique former PS4 exclusive weapons from the first Destiny made its way back into the sequel as part of the Curse of Osiris DLC pack. The kinetic damage scout rifle Jade Rabbit comes with the exotic perk The Fate of All Fools, which returns ammo to the magazine and adds bonus damage on the next precision shot following a chain of successful body shots. The weapon itself has above average impact and reload speed, great range, but is fairly underwhelming in terms of handling and stability. As such, most players would call it a fun PvE weapon, while generally avoiding it for the Crucible.

As expected, Xur also has his typical selection of consumable items as well, including the Fated Engram, Three of Coins, and the Five of Swords. Nightfall players should take an interest in the Five of Swords, as it enables them to increase or decrease the Nightfall difficulty through various modifiers. Increasing the score multiplier can be achieved by enabling various modifiers such as elemental singes, which not only make the mission more challenging but also increase the chance for better loot at the end.

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock for July 6 – 9:

  • Synthoceps (Titan Gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves (Hunter Gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Karnstein Armlets (Warlock Gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • The Jade Rabbit (Scout Rifle) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
  • Three of Coins – 31 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card
