Will Sonic ever work in 3D?

The evening Inbox is upset that Bethesda don’t seem keen on another New Vegas, as one reader suggests making a Pokémon for adults.

The new Minecraft

I’ve seen a number of contributors mentioning that the Fortnite craze is dying off and just wondered if this was based on hard numbers or just that the tsunami of stories of how it’s the biggest thing since shoes has started to ebb. Working across schools I can tell you that the kids haven’t had enough and the playgrounds are full of conversation, rumour, and outright lies about the game and I’m even seeing the younger children ‘play’ Fortnite in the playground. Personally it’s my favourite multiplayer at the moment and long may its popularity remain.

Looking at a game like Minecraft it would seem that kids today invest far more into games than I did when I was young, often focussing solely on one game. I feel Fortnite has the opportunity to follow Minecraft as an evergreen title especially as Epic are so good with the updates and new content every couple of months keeps the game fresh.

I sometimes get the feeling that people are unhappy when games like Fortnite are successful as it may lead to publishers turning away from traditional single-player titles in the hunt for the money but I do feel Epic deserve praise. They may have hijacked a popular idea but they made the gameplay their own, the game runs flawlessly and they seem to have developed a positive microtransaction model without resorting to loot boxes.

GC: Anyone suggesting it’s dying off is clearly wrong, but it does seem as if the initial honeymoon period is over, which is fairly easy to judge by Internet and search traffic. But we think your comparison with Minecraft is apt and that it’ll probably remain popular for a similar length of time.
