H1Z1 Available Now on PS4 | Gaming
A few weeks ago, it was announced when gamers could expect the full PS4 release of H1Z1: Battle Royale, which has been in open beta since May of this year. It now seems that day is upon us, with the game now being out of beta. The game was added as a full release to the Playstation Store on August 7, 2018.
H1Z1: Battle Royale is free, and there are bundles that have exclusive content for buyers and microtransactions for in-game currency. The special launch bundles start at $5 and go up from there. Playstation Plus members can also get some free bonus content in the forms of different PS Plus packs that have different cosmetic items and an emote.
Taking a cue from Fortnite, the game will also have a battle pass that will allow players to complete different challenges and unlock customization options like outfits for their character and skins for weapons. H1Z1‘s pass is only $5.49, compared to nearly $10 of real world money that Fortnite‘s standard battle pass runs (Fortnite has a more expensive pass that starts players off at a higher tier). Right now, it seems that there will not be that option in H1Z1, though.
The beta for H1Z1: Battle Royale seems to have been well received and enjoyed by most players, too. Daybreak, the studio behind the game, announce last month that the open beta had hit over 10 million players on PS4 alone. That means there is a good chunk of the PS4 community that is looking for other battle royale offerings outside of Fortnite.
The full release of H1Z1 should hopefully satisfy those PS4 owners, as battle royale game options on PS4 are pretty slim at the moment. While Fortnite is undoubtedly popular, it may not appeal to everyone, and for the longest time was the only major BR game on the system. PUBG is currently only on PC and Xbox One, and other games in the genre are either in their early stages or are only on other platforms, as well. Of course, big titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V will have their own BR modes, but those games won’t come out until fall.
Along with the full release, a new patch went live for H1Z1: Battle Royale as well, which fixed some bugs and gameplay issues. Full patch notes detailing all the updates can be found here.
H1Z1: Battle Royale is currenlty available on PC and PS4, with an Xbox One version currently in development.
