Modern Warfare 2 “partied up” crash should be fixed later today
In a tweet overnight, Infinity Ward confirmed that it was “aware that some players [are] experiencing crashes when partied up” and invited players to “stay tuned” whilst it investigation the cause of the issue.
A few hours later, Infinity updated the message and whilst it stopped short of giving a specific deadline as to when the issue will be resolved, it did confirm that a fix would be coming sometime on Saturday 29th October (afternoon/evening for Europeans, morning for Americans in the Pacific Daytime Time zone).
“Thank you for your patience. We will be deploying a mitigation for party related crashes tomorrow morning (PDT). Update to follow.”

Wondering what’s happened to your ping? You’re not alone. It looks like Modern Warfare 2’s ping system has been disabled in an attempt to control “wall-hack” cheaters.
Within hours of reports that a ping bug on your death screen could let you track a single player for the rest of the game surfaced, developer Infinity Ward quietly disabled the ping system. At the time of writing there’s been no official word from developer Infinity Ward that the ping has been disabled nor any word on when it may be reinstated, but for now, it looks as though the ping system is only available in private matches.
