Mount and Blade 2 Mod Brings Players to Game of Thrones’ Westeros

A Game of Thrones fan has recreated the mythic world of Essos and Westeros in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord with tons of additional, custom content.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is a strategy game that takes place in medieval times, so it’s not too hard to imagine the people and places from HBO’s Game of Thrones finding their way into the game. Now, thanks to YouTuber Carolina Warlord Gaming, fans no longer have to wonder what that would look like as they’ve brought the world of Westeros and Essos into the Mount and Blade sequel with their new mod.

For anyone not in the know, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is a PC game in which players put a band of soldiers together in order to go on quests and fight in battles. The title sees frequent updates from developer TaleWorlds Entertainment, but it’s also become a popular game for the modding community to play around with. To date, there are over two thousand different mods available for Mount and Blade 2 on popular modding site, NexusMod.com.

Carolina Warlord Gaming calls their mod A Realm of Thrones. They state in their video that they’ve spent five weeks working on the mod that faithfully recreates Westeros and Essos and its many kingdoms and clans, and while the work isn’t done yet, what has been finished is already very impressive. On top of the custom map, Carolina Warlord Gaming has added new cultures, new basic as well as noble troop trees, and hundreds of customized NPCs from Game of Thrones to the game. The mod also takes advantage of the latest Mount and Blade 2 patches to allow the symbols on flags to be flipped, among other things.

The YouTuber has released A Realm of Thrones as a work in progress early access mod, and states that once the official Mount and Blade 2 modding tools are updated they will continue to develop the project. The mod is available on NexusMod.com for any Mount and Blade 2 players to download.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is available now on PC.
