Red Dead Redemption 2 Confirms Red Dead Online Beta | Gaming News

The perfect source for gaming uptodate news

With Red Dead Redemption 2‘s launch being a little more than a month from now, it looks as if Rockstar Games is finally starting to open the floodgates of information it has been holding back from sharing with the public for so long. For instance, the studio just recently offered up a slew of screenshots detailing the open world title's setting, and now the developer has announced plans to hold a later this year for the game's multiplayer component, Red Dead .

According to Rockstar Games, Red Dead Online is set to be “an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience” from the original game by “blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay”. Red Dead Online is set to launch in November 2018 as a public beta at the outset, with anyone who owns a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One being granted access to the beta when it goes live.

As of now, Rockstar has yet to share any exact specifics as to what Red Dead Redemption 2 players should expect out of Red Dead Online, but it did promise that there will be “more news to come soon” regarding the matter. Perhaps the studio will give a rundown of the multiplayer component's unique contents with some footage of RDO in action in the near future. After all, a solid gameplay trailer can often be the best way for a developer to present a particular project for what it is.

All things considered, it will be interesting to see how Red Dead Redemption 2 players eventually react to Red Dead Online once they get a chance to give it a go next month. Should it be true that Red Dead Online winds up featuring more microtransactions than GTA 5, then it's safe to presume many critics will be lukewarm on the multiplayer component at the outset. Of course, that doesn't mean consumers won't continue to trip over themselves to give Rockstar more money, as Grand Theft Auto Online continues to make boffo bucks by implementing microtransactions in its business model.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and the Red Dead Online beta goes live in November 2018.
