Red Dead Redemption 2’s First Extended Gameplay Video Shows Amazing Vistas, Shooting, More | Gaming
It’s level of hype surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2 is kind of amazing, considering just how little we’ve actually seen of the game. So far, we’ve only got three trailers (watch them here, here, and here) each of which has been under two minutes long and consisted mostly of cinematics. Sure, all the trailers were created using in-engine footage, but they give little hint as to how the game will actually play.
Well, good news, cowpokes – Rockstar have finally opened up the vault and released some honest-to-goodness Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay footage, and, unsurprisingly, it’s impressive stuff. Check out the gameplay video, below.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the previous entry in the series, set in the late 1890s. The game casts players as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and high-ranking member of the Van der Linde gang. Here’s a more detailed official synopsis of the game’s story:
America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb to the law are killed.
After a robbery goes wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
Read Dead Redemption 2 rides onto Xbox One and PS4 on October 14. In addition to the standard version of the game, Rockstar is also offering an $80 Special Edition and a $100 Ultimate Edition, which include a variety of exclusive digital goodies – you can get more details here.
