Resident Evil 9 will be out in 2025 claims survival horror insider
A new Resident Evil seems unlikely, given how there’s been no official hint about Resident Evil 9 or a new remake, and indeed the latest rumour suggests the next mainline entry won’t appear until 2025.
However, a reveal is expected next year, which is going to be an interesting one as there’s currently no clue as to what direction Capcom is going to go, since the Winters saga has already concluded.
Although initially it seemed as if Resident Evil 7 was meant to be the start of a trilogy, the story of Ethan and Rose Winters was brought to an abrupt conclusion in Resident Evil Village’s story DLC.
That doesn’t mean Capcom couldn’t change their mind and give one of the Winters a starring role again, but it also brings into question whether Resident Evil 9 would be first person or not – considering the DLC used a third person camera similar to the recent remakes.
It’s the success of those remakes, especially Resident Evil 2 and 4, that seems to have caused Capcom to change its plans but exactly what it’s decided to do with the next game is impossible to say at the moment.
However, respected survival horror insider Dusk Golem (who correctly predicted the recent Clock Tower announcement), claims he knows their plans right up until 2029. He’s not saying what any of those games are, but he is the source for the 2025 release date, and 2024 reveal, for Resident Evil 9.
That would be the obvious guess even without insider knowledge, but what is harder to predict is what remake will be next.
Capcom has already implied that CODE: Veronica won’t be getting the treatment and Resident Evil 5 is problematic in terms of its portrayal of Africa.
Although you could argue that, and the fact that the game is overall nowhere near as good as Resident Evil 4, is all the more reason to remake it.
