Sega To Acquire Two Point Hospital Developer Two Point Studios

Two Point Studios developed and released Two Point last year, with on publishing duties. But the new deal sees the small Brititish studio brought into the Sega stable of developers, which also includes Sports Interactive, Relic Entertainment, and Creative Assembly.

Two Point Hospital is set in the fictional area of Two Point County, and the studio intends for a franchise of simulation games to take place in the same world. Sega says that Two Point Studios has multiple unannounced titles in development due to be revealed in the coming months, and so it seems sensible to expect more Two Point-branded games.

“It's a landmark step for Two Point Studios and we're thrilled to be joining the Sega family,” said Mark Webley, co-founder of Two Point Studios and one of the 17-strong team. “We're looking forward to executing the next phase of our plans as we continue to evolve Two Point County. It's a hugely exciting time to be a part of Two Point and we are here today thanks to the hard work, passion and dedication of our small, but amazingly talented team here in Farnham and the incredible fans that have supported us throughout and guided our continued development of Two Point Hospital.”

The acquisition is the first to be conducted as part of Sega Europe's Searchlight initiative, which intends to find new talent and IPs. Two Point Hospital has proved a critical and commercial success, and so is a logical choice for Sega.

We gave Two Point Hospital an 8.4 in our enthusiastic review, noting that it provides a surprising amount of depth alongside its fun sense of humour. No surprise, really, considering the some of the developers worked on Theme Hospital.
