Will Resident Evil 2 Have VR? | Gaming

When Capcom launched  7, one of the main selling points of the PS4 version was its virtual reality capabilities. Considering this, some have wondered if the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake will have virtual reality as well. However, Capcom has confirmed that the game will not support any virtual reality hardware.

Resident Evil 2 producer Tsuyoshi Kanda explained why the game won’t have support. “We’re not thinking about support currently, given that the camera perspective and the over-the-shoulder choice would mean that is not the best way to present the game. doesn’t match the vision for us.”

Based on Kanda’s comments, it seems as though Capcom thinks the third-person view used in Resident Evil 2 won’t be a good fit for virtual reality. This makes sense, as Resident Evil 7 was a first-person game and better suited for VR, which largely consists of first-person experiences.

However, it’s important to note that Capcom said that it’s not thinking about VR support “currently.” This may leave the door open for Capcom to look into adding virtual reality to Resident Evil 2 at some point in the future, perhaps in a free content update or even as paid DLC. Having said that, it doesn’t seem as though Capcom is interested in adding virtual reality to the game, so fans of VR shouldn’t get their hopes up.

While Resident Evil 2 may not have virtual reality support, the game will present a more traditional Resident Evil experience. It aims to recreate the original Resident Evil 2 experience while adding enough new content to be considered a completely new game. One way it will achieve this is by dropping the original’s fixed camera angles in favor of an over-the-shoulder view like the one used in Resident Evil 4.

With or without virtual reality, the Resident Evil 2 remake has a lot of hype behind it, being awarded Best of Show at E3 2018. If it lives up to expectations, it sounds like survival-horror fans have a lot to look forward to when it launches early next year.

Resident Evil 2 will launch on January 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
