BMW Releases Another Cagey Vision iNext Teaser | Feature

Automakers release images and videos to give us little glimpses at what they have in store. Some of those teasers reveal more than others. But even among the least revealing, this one is pretty cagey.

It's the latest in a series of previews steadily tricking out of Munich for BMW's forthcoming iNext concept. You have to be pretty quick to catch it, but if you watch carefully, you can get a decent look at what the show car's rear end will look like – with narrow strips of LEDs and what looks like it'll be a pretty sleek design.

The iNext is slated to set the stage for the Bavarian automaker's next generation of electric vehicles. More specifically, it's expected to take the form of a crossover, directly previewing a new production model to take on the likes of the Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace, and forthcoming Mercedes EQC and Audi E-Tron.

Instead of waiting until a major auto show (like the one in Paris next month) or holding a dedicated event for its reveal, BMW is partnering with Lufthansa Cargo on a specially outfitted Boeing 777 that will fly the concept car around the world to introduce to journalists (and through us, to the rest of you). It's set to take flight from Munich on September 9, landing in New York, San Francisco, and Beijing en route back to Frankfurt on the14th. So embargoes notwithstanding, we should see the finished product in full sometime in that window. But we won't be the least bit surprised to see BMW releasing a few more of these teasers between now and then.
