Use this feature to stop kids from watching disturbing YouTube … Tech| Innovation

has a dedicated app for young users called which has an animated look and feel. It was launched in 2015 but Google has just introduced two new features for parents that give them more control over the app.

In a posting on the official YouTube blog, the company announced that YouTube Kids now includes the highly-requested “Approved Content Only” option which allows parents to manually select videos, channels or collections to appear on the child’s feed.

Turning on this also means that the search tool will be off limits to kids. So if you don’t want to hear your child sing Johnny Johnny Yes Papa anymore, here is your chance.

YouTube Kids is also a good way to prevent kids from viewing or violent content that may be available on the standard YouTube platform.

The app also has additional security measures in the form of Math questions to prevent kids from changing the app’s settings on their own.

To start using the feature, go to Settings, click on the kid’s profile and choose “approved content only” mode.

Do note that a parent or guardian has to create a profile for the child before they can access any content on the app.

YouTube also has a new content level setting geared towards kids aged 8 to 12 years old that includes additional new content, like popular music and gaming videos.

The “Younger” level is the default content experience and will continue to have a wide selection of sing-alongs and age-appropriate learning videos.

When parents think their kids are ready, they can pick the “Older” level when setting up a new profile or updating an existing profile.

However, this feature is only available in the United States for now.
