Instagram Adds Ability to Comment on Stories For Trolls Away
Stories are one of the most popular parts of Instagram. And Instagram has added a new feature to make them more social. You can now comment on the Stories of others.
Previously, there were limited ways to respond to a Story. You can send a private emoji or DM the other person.
But now, you can leave a public reply to a Story. Thankfully, don’t expect a total free-for-all with random trolls leaving comments.
Comments on Stories are only visible to people who follow you. And mutual follows, which are people you also follow, can leave comments on your Stories.
You can disable the ability for anyone to leave a comment on your Story. As usual, each Story will disappear 24 hours after posting.
The commenting feature is just one of many changes Instagram has made this summer.
If you’re extremely adventurous, you can relive the glory days of MySpace by adding a song to your Instagram profile. You’ll have to select from a track of Instagram’s library of licensed music.
You can also jazz up any images you’d like to post to Instagram with text tools and stickers to make them stand out just a bit more. There are also fonts, animations, and other effects available to use in Reels and Stories.
A Sensible Addition to the Popular Feature
Instagram remains one of my favorite ways to enjoy social media without resorting to doomscrolling.
Compared to the social media dumpster fire that is X, and even Facebook, Instagram has seemingly been able to rise above the rest. The constant bickering, misinformation, and everything that makes social media what it is, is not as apparent on Instagram. I enjoy seeing pictures and Stories that make my day a bit brighter.
I’m glad to see that Instagram management realizes what makes it unique. Rolling out comments to Stories with an eye on keeping out trolls makes it a great way to make Instagram a bit more social, without harming the community.
