Healthtech is a huge term that includes subsets like life sciences, biotech and medtech. Healthtech startups are working on everything from apps to help book NHS appointments to better tech for clinicians to machine learning to work through genomics data to boost drug discovery programmes.
The UK is lucky enough to host both a huge tech startup scene and some of the world’s leading universities, such as Imperial, Kings College London, UCL, Oxford and Cambridge. Together these form a growing life sciences cluster in south-east England.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has backed healthtech with the digitalhealth.london accelerator scheme, which is helping 32 companies design technology solutions for the NHS.
