eBay To Start Accepting Apple Pay | Tips & tricks
As eBay transitions to a non-PayPal payment system, it’s opening itself up to other payment systems as well. eBay has confirmed that it will soon start accepting Apple Pay. Apple’s own mobile payments service is used by countless people who own its products. Apple Pay will be one of the first payment options of its kind for eBay and it will enable customers to pay for goods through the eBay website on Safari or its mobile app.
eBay and PayPal split in 2015 and the former had then revealed that it would move to an integrated payment system developed by Adyen. It’s a back-end service which means that eBay will be able to offer different checkout options. Apple Pay will certainly be one of many checkout options that eBay will eventually add to the payment system.
Apple Pay will initially be available as a payment option to a small group of Marketplace customers who will get the chance to participate in the first phase of the payment service’s rollout on eBay. All users will not get it initially but eBay will expand it over time so that all of its users can pay with Apple Pay.
“Offering Apple Pay as a form of payment on eBay is the first step in providing more choice and flexibility in payment options to our tens of millions of buyers,” said Steve Fisher, the SVP of Payments at eBay.
Apple Pay will be available to select Marketplace customers starting this fall.
