Bursa Malaysia Launches Mobile Depository Services
Bursa Malaysia has launched a new mobile app to allow individual investors to access its central depository services after proposing rule amendments to facilitate the introduction the electronic platform.
The app, ‘Bursa Anywhere’, facilitates investor access to a number of electronic services included in the CDS (Central Depository System).
Bursa Malaysia’s chief executive Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift said that Bursa Anywhere will help ease access to nearly 2 million CDS account holders to information, movements and trends.
“Bursa Anywhere will become the one place for retail investors to go and manage all things to their CDS accounts,” Swift said. “It will provide investors with a seamless experience that will not only facilitate their efficiency but also usher in a new era of empowerment and control.”
“We will continue to enhance our digital touchpoints and look forward to providing more innovative platforms that will collectively help grow the wealth of our nation,” he added.
Registered users will be able to view their shareholding balance, download statement of accounts, update personal particulars and receive notifications on their shareholding on their mobile phones.
Malaysia is the first in ASEAN and second in Asia after Taiwan to launch this service.
The initiative is in line with Bursa Malaysia’s aim to “promote better sustainability practices through digitisation” and encourage digital transformation.
