More people will now be able to access and purchase travel-exclusive and duty-absorbed products online and have it delivered to their homes.

The launch of the e-commerce platform at KL International Airport (IATA) is part of Malaysia ' wider Airports 4.0 plan under its digital transformation initiative aimed at improving passenger experience particularly on the retail front.

Malaysia Airports CEO Dato' Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said: “Malaysia's e-commerce contribution to the digital economy is expected to see a growth projection of 20% in 2020 and this means that there is significant potential growth for Malaysia Airports and our retail partners.

“Our aim is to see shopMYairports contribute to at least 10% of retail sales at the airports.”

The airport's retailers include Eraman, Heinemann, Karyaneka, Nooodles, Retail One, Sama-Sama Hotel and Sprint-Cass.

The e-commerce platform is a sustainable initiative that will assist retail partners to defer rental payments, extend credit terms to 120 days and organise airport-wide sales to help clear inventory.
