REV Media Group Sign MoU With UiTM to Promote Esports Among Students
Malaysia’s leading digital publisher REV Media Group today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to promote esports and nurture aspiring professional gamers among students in the country.
Among others, the MoU seals a collaborative relationship between both parties to strengthen, encourage and develop the academic, cultural and research sectors based on mutual and equitable gains.
“We are well aware of the potential that students of the higher learning institutions have and we believe the esports industry in Malaysia will be able to continue growing further especially with the support we received through Kejohanan E-sukan Kampus (KEK) Semester 3 which has just ended recently,” said REV Media Group chief executive officer Rafiq Razali today.

KEK is the premier campus-level esports tournament in Malaysia, with UiTM’s team Vendetta emerging as the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang champions of this year’s edition, which was conducted entirely online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“With the overwhelming response received (for KEK), we believe that this collaboration (with UiTM) will also be successful. UiTM’s commitment in empowering esports inspired us to continue developing more programmes together to cultivate local esports talent,” Rafiq added.
The MoU was signed between Rafiq and UiTM Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Datuk Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim, and was witnessed by Media Prima Berhad Group Managing Director Dato’ Iskandar Mizal Mahmood and UiTM Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Azizan Abdullah.

The symbiotic collaboration between REV Media Group and UiTM is expected to not only educate, nurture and provide exposure to academics and students into the esports industry, but also support the government’s gaming and esports initiatives.
“I hope that more esports programmes will be organised and expanded internationally. I also hope that this joint venture will be an eye opener for more parties to collaborate and be able to accept esports not only as a healthy sport but also as an opportunity to generate income in the nation’s esports sector,” said Azraai.
Besides esports, both parties agreed to encourage international collaboration in the academic field such as holding various programmes at UiTM, exchange of information on developments in research, student development and research institutions.
The MoU also established a collaboration to develop esports hub labs in UiTM as well as future KEK events, where REV Media Group would serve as the main organiser while UiTM would act as a strategic partner for students and universities.
