Borderlands 3: New Shift Code for 5 Golden Keys Revealed
As more and more gamers sink their free time into their favorite games, many of those games are looking to give back. Borderlands 3 has been running regular events that are geared towards rewarding players with more loot, and even introduced add-on events to its main event. Now, the game that is all about loot is giving players even more loot.
Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has revealed a new Shift Code that will offer players 5 Golden Keys. He unveiled the code in a tweet that reminisced about a time before all this, when people were struggling just to get an hour or two to spend gaming. Now, there is almost too much time to game.
The Golden Key Shift Code will be active until Wednesday, April 15 at 12am PT, so Borderlands 3 players have some time to redeem the code. Make sure to sign up for a Shift account and head to the website to unlock the 5 Golden Keys.
Now that Borderlands 3 is several months old, some players might not see the value of Golden Keys (even 5 of them) but the latest expansion has changed that. Titled Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright and Hammerlock, this DLC add-on includes new loot to collect and a new level cap. So while players might have their favorite weapons, they will need to reacquire them at the higher levels (and with the preferred perks) to stay competitive.
Remember the Before Times when we did not have enough time for games? Well, here are FIVE Borderlands 3 Golden Keys to help you! Redeem by Midnight PDT on Wednesday, April 15th.

Shift Codes were introduced back during the Borderlands 2 days and they unlock Golden Keys for use on the player’s personal chest. In Borderlands 3, the Golden Key chest is found on the Sanctuary Ship, in the pathway between the player’s Vault and the module upgrade vendor.
Using a Golden Key on the chest will unlock a chest that favors more valuable loot, like Legendary Weapons and Gear. It’s not unlike a Red Chest found while playing in the wild, but the odds of getting Legendary items is a little higher.
Well, usually the odds are a little higher, but Borderlands 3 is running a special event focused on buffing Red Chests and putting a lot more Legendary items in them. This is one of two different events that are running during part of April and that are part of a larger, month-long event called Coop Loot Drop. For the next 16 days, players will have better odds of obtaining Legendary loot while playing with a friend. And during the Rare Chest Riches event, they will find Red Chests more rewarding. That event ends on April 16, though.
Borderlands 3 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
