DOOM Eternal Gameplay to Debut Next Week | Gaming
As many first-person shooter fans will fondly recall, DOOM Eternal was officially announced during Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference, with the id Software-developed project being revealed with a characteristically gory trailer at the event. While the footage undoubtedly excited myriad diehard acolytes of the long-running series, it’s safe to say that they’re ready to see some gameplay as well. Thankfully, Bethesda and id Software have declared intentions to debut the first piece of gameplay footage for the title next week during QuakeCon 2018.
As seen in the tweet below, DOOM Eternal will have its gameplay unveiled live for a world premiere on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM CT / 12:00 PM ET on Bethesda’s official Twitch account. Beyond the promise of the reveal being “action-packed”, there’s no telling exactly what kind of content fans should expect. Of course, considering the fact it’s a DOOM game, there ought to be plenty of demon slaying and brutal gunplay involved.

For those who have been out of the loop since id Software’s release of DOOM in 2016, DOOM Eternal will feature a much more powerful protagonist, with the game seemingly being set partly on Earth instead of solely in Hell. What’s more is that the upcoming sequel appears to be influenced by 1994’s Doom 2 in some other ways, as Pain Elementals, Arachnotrons, and Arch-Viles are all apparently making a comeback as enemies.
All things considered, it will definitely be interesting to see how DOOM Eternal will improve upon the 2016 version of the game, especially since the most recent entry in the series was lauded by both fans and critics alike. As evidenced in our review, for instance, 2016’s DOOM was a “visually impressive and chaotically-paced affair that stands out amongst a sea of other FPS titles”. So, bearing this in mind, plenty of fans would likely concur with the sentiment and agree that a high bar has definitely been set for the quality of DOOM Eternal.
DOOM Eternal is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
