Elden Ring Player Makes the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3
An Elden Ring player uses different armor sets to turn their character into the Nameless King, the notoriously difficult boss from Dark Souls 3.
Elden Ring is a vast game with player base so large and dedicated that different sub-communities have even cropped up, in which players focus on different aspects of the game. Elden Ring has communities based around dueling in the game’s PvP mode, there is also so much hidden lore and obscure story details in Elden Ring that many players dedicate themselves to uncovering and sharing secrets in order to pool together an analysis of the game’s story.
There are also Elden Ring speed runners dedicated to precisely working out the game’s mechanics in order to complete it as quickly as possible. However, there is another Elden Ring sub-community of players with a far more straightforward goal in mind; the pursuit of fashionable armor and weapon combinations.
This is a carryover from the Dark Souls series, in which players would refer to this pursuit as “Fashion Souls.” For Elden Ring, however, the concept has been redubbed “Elden Bling” and these fashionable players are spoiled for choice as Elden Ring contains hundreds of unique weapons and armor sets which can be combined in thousands of ways. Players have even been able to recreate the looks of characters from previous From Software games, and a Reddit user named hammbone187 has recently shared their version of the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3 recreated using various Elden Ring armor sets.
The Reddit user’s character is recognizably reminiscent of the notoriously difficult Dark Souls 3 boss, mainly through the appearance of some key items. Elden Ring‘s Serpent-Hunter Great Spear is noticeably similar to the Nameless King’s Dragonslayer Swordspear, and the Reddit user also has equipped Maliketh’s Helm, which provides the player’s Nameless King with his distinct long gray hair. The Nameless King is a unique boss design from an entirely different game series, and so it is testament to how versatile Elden Ring‘s player customization is when a player can get this close to his appearance.
The unique armor sets for almost every boss and NPC in Elden Ring can be obtained and worn by the player, even if that character is much larger than the player is. But there is a desire among Elden Ring fans to recreate and cosplay as characters from other pop-culture franchises. Usually this includes characters from another medieval fantasy series like Dark Souls 3, but players have also made loving Elden Ring recreations of characters like Darth Maul from Star Wars.
Elden Ring players will usually spend their first playthrough of the game collecting and swapping through the hundreds of different armor pieces they come across, and not every player will be willing to sacrifice on defense for the sake of looking good, and so these players end up wearing mismatched and clashing armor sets. But it is still a good idea to look good in Elden Ring just in-case the fashion police decide to invade.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
