Genshin Impact Artist Creates Mecha Skin for Nilou

A fan has created an impressive mecha-themed skin for the popular star of the Zubayr Theatre, the Hydro user Nilou. Even though every new update revolves around the game’s playable roster, HoYoverse has not introduced many alternative outfits for their characters.

The last two outfits were added back in Impact version 3.4 during the Lantern Rite Festival in which Ayaka and Lisa received their first skins. The game usually adds new cosmetics twice a year during two annual events, the Lantern Rite Festival which celebrates the Chinese New Year, and the Summer-themed Golden Apple Archipelago event.

A Reddit user named zhengjian2021 has shared an impressive skin concept for the popular Hydro user Nilou who was added back in update 3.1. Overall, fans seem to like the art as the post reached over 1.9k upvotes with numerous comments praising its design. A lot of fans claim that even though creating fan-art is very common in the game’s community, they rarely get to see any mecha-themed skins. Some players have pointed out that the outfit feels like it belongs to Honkai, HoYoverse’s second most popular franchise. A lot of comments have started speculating about how this skin could affect Nilou’s overall play style. View the Nilou art here.

Nilou is a very niche Genshin Impact character as her whole play style revolves around using one elemental reaction named Bloom. This reaction can be triggered by combining Hydro with Dendro which means that players need to have these two elements in their team if they want to play around Bloom. This will cause Dendro cores to drop on the floor and explode after a couple of seconds, dealing AoE Dendro damage in the process.

Some fans have suggested that the fan-made version of Nilou would increase the cores’ explosion damage and radius by turning them into high-tech landmines. Players hope that HoYoverse could add a similar mecha-themed outfit for Nilou or any other character in the future. Recent Genshin Impact leaks have been hinting that two popular characters, Klee and Kaeya, will receive new outfits in the upcoming Golden Apple Archipelago event.

Travelers who want to add Nilou to their roster will have to wait for a couple of months since she was recently featured on a Limited Character Banner alongside Nahida. Both of these characters are considered must-have units for players that want to build their team around the Bloom elemental reaction.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
