A shocking of Genshin Impact drew a crowd at this month’s recent HoYofest Malaysia 2021. Developer miHoYo’s action role-playing game takes players to the fantasy world of Teyvat and introduces them to a large and ever-expanding cast of playable characters. The title’s large and loyal fanbase has resulted in many impressive Genshin Impact cosplays, bringing the game’s digital roster to life in often stunning detail.

Genshin Impact utilizes a live-service format, with miHoYo constantly expanding and improving the game through frequent updates. New areas and quests are added on a regular basis, but new characters are perhaps the most anticipated and exciting additions for fans. New characters are unlocked through a gacha game mechanic, where players can purchase different in-game currencies which give them the opportunity to acquire a new character. Each of Genshin Impact’s playable characters possess unique personalities, backstories, weapons and elemental abilities which add a great deal of variety to the RPG experience. Genshin Impact relies heavily on new characters to keep players invested, and each new addition to the roster is teased heavily ahead of their actual introduction.

Making a climactic appearance at this month’s Genshin HoYofest Malaysia, Reddit user yushirocos’ cosplay of Genshin Impact’s Raiden Shogun got a ton of well-deserved attention. The Electro warrior acts as the vessel of Beelzebul, a powerful lightning deity, and wields a spear in combat. yushirocos’ recreation of Raiden Shogun comes complete with her signature purple hair, flowing patterned garb and powerful glowing purple spear. A fan celebration of Genshin Impact and miHoYo’s other games, HoYofest Malaysia 2021 ran from December 3 to December 14 and drew out a large number of fans. Cosplays were abundant during the event, by yushirocos managed to stand out from the crowd thanks to the Raiden Shogun cosplay’s detail and accuracy.

Genshin Impact’s community has embraced cosplay as a way to immerse themselves in the game and its large cast of unique heroes. Many of these recreations are simple and effective, while others go the extra mile by employing special effects. One fan’s cosplay of Genshin Impact’s Mona accurately brings the Hydro user’s attire to life, complete with her large signature hat. However, this cosplay also uses computer graphics to bring the warrior’s water spells to life in a convincing display of digital trickery. The result is a Mona cosplay that looks like it stepped right off of a gamer’s screen and could defeat any opponent with liquid magic.

Going the extra mile by including the Electro vessel’s glowing weaponry, yushirocos’ Raiden Shogun cosplay for Genshin Impact rightfully drew a large crowd of onlookers during HoYofest 2021. Some admirers even bowed before the cosplayer, paying tribute to both the character’s prestige and the cosplayer’s great skill at designing and crafting such a costume.

Genshin Impact released Raiden Shogun back in September, and the 4-star Electro user has already been immortalized through the care and skill of a cosplayer’s recreation.
