Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Update Raises Level Cap, Adds New Chapter | Gaming

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans have become used to developer Jam City releasing a new update for the game every Thursday, typically adding one new story in the process. This week was no different, with Jam City releasing Year 4 Chapter 11 for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery enthusiasts while also raising the game's cap.

Prior to downloading the latest update for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, players were stuck at level 25. It's unclear at the time of this writing what the new level cap is, but previously maxed out players will notice that they can get XP again from classes and story events. This should be helpful, as leveling up will refill one's energy meter completely, and should in turn allow players to progress through the game at a faster rate.

The higher level cap should please hardcore fans of the game, but others may be more interested in the new story content. Year 4 Chapter 11 will bring players one step closer to finishing the especially long Year 4 in the game, as it sees the player character work with friends to overcome the threat of the Red Cap creature hiding in the Forbidden Forest.

While it's possible that Jam City added more chapters than just Chapter 11, we are unable to confirm or deny that at this time. The developer has sometimes added two or more story chapters in the past, but the past few weeks has seen it add one story chapter at a time, every Thursday.

In the meantime, players can also check out the in-game event that's still going on. Just recently, Jam City added the Duelling Club event back to the game, which gives players an opportunity to test out their combat skills and unlock special cosmetic items as well as other rewards. Unfortunately, the developer failed to address many of the criticisms that were lobbed at the original incarnation of the Duelling Club, but at least it appears to be a bit more rewarding in general.

At the rate Jam City is going, it will be many more months before it releases all seven years of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. While some may be frustrated at the slow trickle of content, on the bright side, it means that players have plenty more to look forward to in the future.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
