“People keep asking… so…”

Doug Cockle, who plays Geralt of Rivia in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher games, has publicly endorsed the casting of Henry Cavill for the role in Netflix’s upcoming TV series.

Many fans had asked Cockle – who’s become synonymous with the role, and will be reprising it for the character’s appearance in Soulcalibur 6 – for his opinion. He responded on Twitter:

Cavill’s casting was announced yesterday, but he first expressed an interest in an interview with Tech last month – little did we know, showrunner Lauren Hissrich had already met with the actor four months ago. Sneaky Henry.

The Netflix adaptation draws on Andrzej Sapkowski’s original novels, with CD Projekt not involved. The first season will be eight episodes long, and at least one script is finished, but don’t expect to see it before 2020.

If you were the naughty sort, you might have stumbled across the show’s casting scripts, which leaked online – but they aren’t going to be part of the final product.
