New Fairy Tail Trailer Reveals First 5 Playable Characters
Fairy Tail is the lastest highly-anticipated video game anime adaptation, joining other upcoming titles including Dragon Ball Z Kakarot and One Piece Pirate Warriors 4. Like the other titles, Fairy Tail is being showcased at the Tokyo Game Show 2019 convention in Japan, and today’s Koei Tecmo stage show at TGS featured a ton of new information about the RPG. The latest trailer was shown during the event, introducing the first five of Fairy Tale‘s playable characters.
The trailer officially confirms the first of Fairy Tail‘s protagonists that will be playable in the upcoming RPG. The RPG features turn-based combat, so each of these characters will be party members rather than individually playable like in an action game. The five revealed characters include Erza Scarlet, Wendy Marvell, Gray Fullbuster, Lucy Heartfilia, and, of course, Natsu Dragneel. Makarov Dreyar, the Fairy Tail guild master, is also shown providing a support role.
Erza, Wendy, Gray, Lucy, and Natsu are the first five characters in the upcoming Fairy Tail RPG, but there’s more to come. According to Koei Tecmo, the Fairy Tail video game will include more than 10 total playable characters. Koei Tecmo looks to have gotten the most popular characters in the first wave (except for Happy), so which characters come next is up in the air. Mirajane, Juvia, and Laxus seem like good bets, though.
In addition to Fairy Tail‘s characters, Koei Tecmo revealed additional details about the RPG’s features. Namely, that the Guild in Magnolia Town will be a major focus in the game. Players will return to this location to pick up new missions and rewards. As players complete requests, the Guild will grow in interesting and helpful ways. Also confirmed is that the Tenrou Island arc serves as the game’s prologue and the Grand Magic Games arc is the game’s first half.
There’s obviously still a lot left for Koei Tecmo to share about the upcoming Fairy Tail RPG. Fans of either the Fairy Tail manga or anime are already likely to see how the game is coming together. The Tenrou Island arc ends with a wild conclusion that resets the story in many ways. And pairing the Grand Magic Games arc with rebuilding the Guild sounds like an excellent game structure. What story arc will make up the second half of the game remains to be seen, however.
