Overwatch 2 enters early access on 4 October 2022

Overwatch 2 has commenced early access on October 4 as part of today”s Xbox and Bethesda games showcase.

A new character, the Junker Queen, was shown as a person who had only heard about a PA system previously in a new trailer.

Microsoft is in the process of purchasing Activision Blizzard. Although the original Overwatch was a big success when it was released in 2016, it has grown stagnant as Blizzard has changed its focus to the sequel. Overwatch 2 will also feature a co-op mode, although the early access is focusing on PvP.

It’s unclear whether the player-vs-environment side of the sequel will be free too, or how Blizzard plans to monetize everything. Overwatch 2 will at long last move to a seasonal content format, which suggests there will be a battle pass of some kind. That means there should finally be content updates on a regular cadence.

Should the Microsoft deal go through, Overwatch 2 will surely be more than likely be included in Game Pass anyway. It’s worth noting that only the player-vs-player (PvP) side will be available at launch on October 4th. The co-op missions will arrive later.
