Pokemon GO: Players Could Lose Stored Rewards After Update | Gaming
Pokemon GO Field Research offers tons of opportunities every day for trainers to earn encounter rewards for visiting Pokestops and completing various tasks. After completing the task, players are able to claim their encounter reward or choose to start the encounter later. Some trainers have stocked up an enormous backlog of encounters thanks to that feature, but a new update is going to change things.
An update, arriving on August 20, is going to add a limit to the number of research reward encounters that can be saved for later. That limit is 100 and Pokemon GO players who have more than that stored when the update goes live will lose everything after the most recent 100.
Here’s a look at the warning from the Pokemon GO twitter account…
Attention, Trainers! Are you storing up research task rewards? Time to claim those rewards, as an update coming on August 20, 2018, will place a cap of 100 on the number that can be stored. Only your 100 most recent rewards will be available if not claimed before August 20, 2018.

This limitation won’t impact the average Pokemon GO player, but there are definitely lots of daily grinders who stock up these encounters and then save them for certain events or other bonuses. This change will impact that strategy quite a bit, but at least the community has been warned, so there is enough time to claim those encounters and stay under the 100 limit.
Some players are speculating that this change will come as a part of a bigger update that rolls out additional features, as well. So far, that’s just speculation, but we’ll continue to monitor the rumor for any sign of proof.
Check back for updates as we get closer to the patch. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
