Rockstar has revealed that 2 will follow in GTA V’s footsteps by allowing you to play the entire game from a first-person perspective.

Shown off in our hands-on with the game, first-person mode can be turned on and off at any time (on the PS4, this is done by clicking the trackpad to cycle through the camera modes until you get to first-person), and applies to the entire game, barring cutscenes. The feature will be available at launch.

It’s something of a surprise – GTA V only added a first-person mode upon its release for Xbox One and PS4, well over a year after the game was launched on last-gen consoles.

We’ve gone hands-on with two hours of the game, and you can read everything that happened to us in that time. We also made a list of the game’s coolest little details, and a rundown of why the new Dialogue system occasionally turns Dead 2 into a comedy game.

Based on GTA Online, it seems likely you’ll also be able to play Red Dead Online – the game’s multiplayer mode – in first-person. With a beta launching in November, we got the chance to talk to two Rockstar developers and find out much more about the mode, including why it isn’t launching alongside the single-player game.
